YEMISI WADA JOINS GOLDEN CLUB

- THE EXIT OF NITE CLUB ‘GENERALISSIMO’, AKEEM SODEINDE

Yemisi Wada, ex- wife of Femi Fani- Kayode, is warming up to mark her 50th birthday on June 6.

The forthcoming event, as gathered by Society Happenings, promises to be a grand one that would by attended by crème de crème in the society. It will kick- off with a church service and will be followed by a banquet for guests at a classy resort in Victoria Island, Lagos.

It will be recalled that when she turned 40 in 2005, her current husband, Dahiru Wada, literally spoilt her with a brand new Mercedes- Benz SUV with customised number plate, in addition to sponsoring her holiday abroad. As she is now set to celebrate her golden age, not a few are anxious to know what her husband will present to her on the occasion.

Meanwhile, we gathered that it was another moment of glory on Tuesday, May 12, when her mother Chief ( Mrs.) Folasade Adeniji, wife of retired Justice Adebayo Adeniji, celebrated her birthday.

Adeniji, the Yeye Oge of Ikorodu and sister to the Minister of Trade and Industry, Olusegun Aganga, proved a perfect host as she gave utmost attention to the gorgeously dressed invited guests at her Parkview home in Ikoyi, Lagos.

One of the major stories that hit the social scene, last week, was the sudden death of Akeem Sodeinde, aka Generalissimo of Lagos night club.

Until he passed on, he ruled his world as a club owner and even changed the face of night clubbing, particularly in Lagos.

He was said to have started out as a night club bouncer until, out of sheer determination and pristine ambition, branched out to launch a night club.

He came into the limelight when he became part- owner and face of Xtreme. In no time, he was able to restore the lost shine in night clubbing; the once dull scene began to experience a boost and many people came back to nite clubbing.

Somehow, those who felt threatened about his presence, relative success and daring spirit were said to have launched hate campaigns against him. Nevertheless, he was still loved by others who recognised his tenacity.

Sadly, Sodeinde was hit by acute diabetes and was flown to India where, apart from the huge financial cost, he lost one of his kidneys.

We gathered that he became a shadow of himself thereafter.

His nite club, Movida, which was a major attraction to the youngsters was shut down. Things got so bad that not even the facelift given the place after his return could salvage the situation.

Eventually, he suffered a serious relapse last Sunday.

He died without fulfilling his dream of opening the biggest and most expensive club in Abuja.

He was buried last Friday at the Ikoyi Cemetery.

The social and night clubbing scene will definitely miss the flamboyant young man that added spice to the industry in his own way. Party ( PDP), suffered a humiliating defeat in the hand of the opposition All Progressives Congress ( APC), Roli Adeniyi had always been in the news for obvious reasons. But she seems to be avoiding the social scene now, following the huge loss recorded by her party.

Though beautiful Roli had been a good piece for tabloids, her story further became more compelling for readers when she got married to PDP chieftain, Chief Olabode George, following which she gravitated towards politics. But sadly, her ‘ powerful’ husband upon whom she had hoped to navigate the ocean of Lagos politics could not secure for her a slot to represent her constituency in the Lower Chamber of the National Assembly in past elections.

She was however appointed by President Goodluck Jonathan as Chairman, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency ( NDLEA), for her contributions to the party. She succeeded Olufemi Ajayi, who is now
