Again, Boko Haram Kills 10 in Adamawa

- In Yola

Daji Sani The Chairman of Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State, Maina Ularamu, has confirmed the incessant attacks on his area by the Boko Haram insurgents.

He also revealed that the insurgents, at the weekend, stormed Kwamda-Kobla village in his council area slaughtering ten people.

According to him, the attackers did not shoot, rather, they resorted to slaughtering their victims, adding that the rate at which the insurgents were attacking the people has given cause for concern.

He said members of vigilantes had gone after the attackers before they escaped to their hideouts in the surrounding villages.

“The village is five kilometers from Gulak town but there is no security presence there as soldiers are deployed in Madagali and Gulak only. When vigilantes went after the militants, they escaped to their hideout in the area,” he said.

He called on the people to remain calm as the military and members of the vigilante group are making effort to change their approach to the fight against the insurgents in the areas.

Ularamu said all hopes are not lost as he believed in the competence of the military to cordon the area and ptotect lives and property.

According to reports from the affected areas, based on to the renewed onslaught by the Boko Haram insurgents in the villages in the northern zone of the state, fear and apprehension have continued to grip the residents of the area as some of them have begun to flee to Yola, the state capital, to seek refuge.

The reports said about 20 gunmen believed to be members of the Boko Haram sect attacked the village of Jwamda- Kobla at about 5 a.m. last Friday.

The attackers were said to have laid siege at the village in the morning armed with several weapons.
