Buhari May Make Quiet Return to Abuja

- Onyebuchi Ezigbo inAbuja

As the president-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, returns to Nigeria this morning, there are strong indications that he might choose to make a quiet entry devoid of any fanfare.

Unlike the elaborate arrangement made when he returned to Nigeria after his presentations at the Chatham House in London, Buhari is said to have asked for a low-keyed reception after a six-day trip to the United Kingdom

Buhari, who might likely fly into the country in the company of former President Shehu Shagari, has also kept his immediate itinerary upon his return to his chest.

Not even his media aides were availed the progromme of the president-elect as one of them confided in THISDAY that they have not been informed of the details of Buhari’s airport formalities.

Also, efforts to get clear information on the president- elect’s arrival details from his spokesman, Garba Shehu, did not yield much result as Shehu only offered to get back to THISDAY.

Meanwhile, Buhari, has extended his condolences to former President Olusegun Obasanjo on the recent death of his younger sister, Madam Aduni Oluwasola Eweje-Obasanjo.

In a statement issued in Abuja by Buhari’s Head of Media Team, Shehu, he expressed sadness that Madam Obasanjo died at a period when her wisdom would be missed.

He asked Obasanjo to take heart and bear the loss with equanimity and faith that God who knows all things would strengthen and comfort him, and other relations of Madam Aduni Obasanjo.
