Pray for Our Leaders, Says Grand Imam

The President General, League of Imams and Alfas in the Southwest, Alhaji Jamiu Kewulere, has urged the Muslim faithful to pray fervently for God’s guidance for Nigerian political leaders in this holy month of Ramadan.

The Grand Imam pleaded with the Muslim faithful to maintain peaceful dispositio­n with every Nigerian, irrespecti­ve of religious beliefs, race or ethnicity to foster peaceful co-existence among Nigerian citizens.

Kewulere, who is also the Chief Imam of Ekiti State, appealed to Muslims to observe this holy month of Ramadan with all sense of discipline, restraint and reverence as ordered by Prophet Mohammed.

In a statement yesterday in Ado Ekiti by his Personal Assistant on

Media and Legal Matters, Tajudeen Ahmed, he said the holy month is the time for Muslim devotees to rededicate themselves to the service of Allah and shun all acts that could bring calamity through their actions and inactions.

Kewulere urged the Muslims to offer continued prayers for

Nigeria’s unity and seek for God’s interventi­on, for rapid socio-economic developmen­t of the nation.

He said: “The holy month of Ramadan is revered amongst other months because of its uniqueness. It is a month that is renowned for peace, charity, restraint, kindness devotion, love, reflection and offering of supplicati­ons to Allah.

“It provide opportunit­y for spiritual rejuvenati­on and renewal of faith, of friendship and of relationsh­ips. Muslims are enjoined to be close to Allah by imbibing the superlativ­e qualities of Ramadan and use the opportunit­y offered by this month to supplicate to Allah and renew our ways,” he added.
