Toke Makinwa’s Parable of Nonsense
When the news of On-Air Personality Toke Makinwa’s troubled marriage hit the airwaves last week, many waited with sated breath for her to break the silence. Her 18-month marriage is currently rocked to its foundation with speculations that her husband Maje Ayida, cheated on her with his longtime girlfriend Anita Solomon. The supposed girlfriend is also expecting a child with the fitness trainer and is at present in the States for her ante-natal care. Ayida also allegedly paid for Solomon’s mega beauty-salon in Calabar. Since the news broke on Saturday night, Makinwa has clearly steered from addressing the issue directly. This is quite unlike the OAP. Toks as she is popularly called has an uncanny way of sharing her life on social media, particularly the Instagram with her Vlog series. From sex talk to relationships, Toks seemed to have all the golden tips and tricks to put your man on the leash and live the life you wish. These tips are shared by Toks in any occasion. In fact, at The Headies 2014 which she co-hosted with comedian Basketmouth, she confidently told the comedian that she could always detect when a man is cheating.
Adding to this is her effusive praise for her husband. She never hesitates to talk about her husband’s undying love for her. She talks about how understanding he was of her career and how he dotes on her. In one particular post, a user compared her marriage to a Nollywood movie titled “Mr &Mrs”.
Now, Toks is living her own Mr &Mrs as the much celebrated husband that supposedly made her the subject of much envy was a big ruse all along. Ayida was having the best of both ladies (and who knows how many more). When Toks finally broke the silence, it was a complete parable of nonsense. She kept on ranting about women and God and failed to address the main issue bordering her marriage. From all indications, either Makinwa is playing the wait-game with her fans or is simply at a loss for words. Can’t believe the garrulous OAP is caught flat- footed.
