‘Why Marketing Professionals Must Embrace New Trends’
Marketing communication practitioners must get acquainted with new trends in branding if they are to excel in today’s highly competitive marketplace, Managing Partner, Brandzone Consulting, Mrs. Chizor Malize, has said.
Speaking on her nomination as a jury member of Rebrand 100® Global Awards 2016 in an interview with THISDAY in Lagos, Malize urged practitioners to be smarter in the deployment of marketing solutions that touch on the bottom lines of their clients. She identified knowledge gap among marketing communication practitioners as a major factor militating against industry growth and called on practitioners to devote more resources towards knowledge acquisition. Malize emphasised the need for experts in the marketing communication industry to invest in training of upcoming professionals.
She also expressed concern over the decline in international training opportunities for marketing professionals in recent times. She said: “One of the reasons why we think there is a gap in the industry is because there is a very little knowledge exchange. The kind of knowledge that older generation of marketing communication practitioners were exposed to are not there again.
In the past, multinationals would send their managers to various parts of the world to acquire knowledge but because of lean resources, this is no more the practice. Only a few companies still send people abroad for training.”
Malize disclosed that as part of Brandzone’s contribution to the training of upcoming professionals, the agency inaugurated a quarterly leadership seminar programme as a robust platform for practitioners to brainstorm and learn new things.
“We set up a quarterly training workshop to create a robust platform for practitioners to brainstorm and learn new things.
