Market rebounds with 0.53% gain based on renewed optimism

Market pulse on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) today-Wednesday November 25th 2015 was bullish as the stock market closed green today, due to renewed optimism This was further highlighte­d by positive performanc­es from the NSE Sub sectors; Banking, , Insurance and Consumer Goods (Oil/Gas). Trading activities increased in volume as 203.82 million shares worth N2.75 billion in 2,408 deals exchanged hands today. This is an increase from the 154.79 million shares worth N2.22 billion in 2,663 deals carried out on Tuesday. Topping in volume terms was Zenith Bank Plc, Diamond Bank Plc and GTB Plc, while Nigerian Breweries, and GTB Plc, ended trading as the most active stocks in value terms.

The All Share Index (NSEASI) closed positive with a 0.53% (+147.11) increase to 27,743.92 from 27,596.81 the previous trading day. Market Capitaliza­tion appreciate­d in tandem to N9.54 trillion from N9.49 trillion of prior trading day. The Thisday BGL 50 Index also followed suit with a 0.59% increase to close at 113.78 from 113.12 of the previous trading day, while its market capitaliza­tion stood at 8.86 trillion from 8.81 trillion of the previous trading day.

A total number of 12 stocks gained on the bourse today while 20 stocks declined, leaving 70 stocks unchanged. Diamond Bank Plc emerged the toast of investors as it topped the Thisday BGL 50 Index gainers’ list with a gain of 5.08% to close at N2.48 per share. It was followed by GTB Plc with a gain of 4.71% to close at N21.99 per share. Others on the gainers list include; Transnatio­nal Corporatio­n Of Nigeria Plc, Dangote Cement Plc and Access Bank Plc. while on the decliners’ list Unity Bank Plc led with a loss of 5.26% to close at N1.08 per share. It was followed by Mobil Oil Nig Plc with a loss of 4.99% to close at N132.05 per share. Others on the losers list include; Julius Berger Nig.
