Adeboyejo Olubobokun is Dead

Col. Josef Adeboyejo Olubobokun (rtd) is dead. Aged 85, Olubobokun was born in Iyin Ekiti, Ekiti State on June 8, 1930. He attended Christ School, Ado-Ekiti between 19451948. In 1951, he moved to St. Andrew’s College, Oyo, where he received his first education in music. He continued his education at Kumasi College of Technology and Winneba College, in Ghana. In 1960, he proceeded to the Royal College of Music Manchester, England where he graduated in1964.

On returning home, Olubobokun joined the Nigerian Army as the first Director of Music, a position he held for 20years until his retirement in January 1984.

He joined the Lagos State College of Education, Oto Ijanikin (now Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education), became Head of Department of Creative and Cultural Arts, and published his ‘Folksong Collection Book One’.

Olubobokun also attended Faith Bible College and Seminary, Otta and the Lagos Anglican Diocesan Seminary. He was ordained as a priest in 1993. He served at Archbishop Vinning Memorial Church (now Cathedral), Cathedral Church of Christ, Marina and retired from the Chapel of the Healing Cross, Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Idi Araba at 70.
