Tony Elumelu’s Other Children
One thing is certain, Tony Elumelu has other children. Having finally revealed the adorable faces of his twin boys- the newest addition to his family last year-on his Instagram page recently, the chairman of Heirs Holdings is prepared to harbour more children this year. Arguably, Elumelu is one of Africa’s influential and colourful character in the Africa business landscape. The torrents of accolades that have rained on him over the years is a good pointer that the man from Delta state is an economic intellectual to the core. His commitment to transforming the economic ecosystem in Africa is albeit altruistic and outstanding. Adding to this is the flair and ease surrounding his personality. He hardly breaks a sweat when he is wearing his business cloak and more so in a social gathering, he turns on his charm like an electric kettle.
Riding on his economic philosophy Africapitalism, Elumelu through the Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship Programme (TEEP) adopted 1,000 entrepreneurs from 51 countries last year. The selected entrepreneurs were trained, mentored and financially supported through his foundation to start up their own businesses.
This year, more innovative entrepreneurs are expected to join the league as the calls for entries on the entrepreneurship programme is open and will run till March 1, 2016.
Owing to this, Elumelu is not just a father to seven beautiful children but to the denizens SMEs who look up to him for motivation, mentorship and of course, hope for a greater Africa.
