TheMercedes-BenzGLC Coupe is looking like it is getting ready for its debut. AutoGuide.com’s spy photographers have caught the upcoming GLC Coupe up close, shedding some of its camouflage and looking production ready. The German automaker previously confirmed the GLC Coupe would be produced after debuting a concept in April 2015 and rumor has it the production model will make its debut at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show or the 2016 New York Auto Show. With the crossover and SUV segment becoming increasingly popular worldwide, it’s no surprise that Mercedes is looking to take advantage by introducing a revamped lineup of models starting with the GLC and GLE from last year. The GLC Coupe will compete with the BMW X4 and will share its powertrain with the existing GLC, which replaced the GLK in the automaker’s lineup. In the U.S., the GLC is offered in the form of a GLC300 sporting 241 horsepower from a 2.0-liter turbocharged fourcylinder engine. In our review of the 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLC, we praised the well-crafted, luxurious interior and its offroad capabilities but wished its drive was more refined and its styling wasn’t so bland. Mercedes GLC Coupe is headed to production. To little surprise, Mercedes-Benz has confirmed that the GLC Coupe is heading to production and will debut early next year.

Considering AutoGuide. com‘s spy photographers have already caught the production GLC Coupe testing, it was only a matter of time before the German automaker made it official. The crossover and SUV market is becoming the most popular segment in the automotive industry and Mercedes looks to capitalize by revamping its entire lineup starting with the new GLC and GLE. The GLC Coupe will look to compete with the BMW X4 when it’s introduced early next year, likely at the 2016 New York Auto Show.
