Over 40 Schools Participate in Canada Education Fair
Over forty schools have participated in Canada’s 12th education fair in Lagos and Abuja. The schools cut across all the provinces in Canada.
While delivering his address at the Lagos fair, Canadian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr Perry Calderwood stated that the fair is one of the largest in West Africa, noting that it provides a forum for students to learn about opportunities to pursue their secondary and post secondary education in the country.
“Choosing Canada as a study destination means accessing one of the world’s best education systems, whose degrees and diplomas give professionals career momentum”, he added.
He pointed out that Canada’s education is deeply rooted in a culture of cutting-edge research, innovation and development; saying in Canada, students have the chance to study and live in a stimulating and enriching environment.
“One of the best indications of Canada’s attractiveness as a study destination is the positive experience of thousands of Nigerians who have pursed their post-secondary education in our country in recent years. In 2014, Over 8,600 Nigerian students were studying in Canada. These students enjoyed the warm Canadian welcome and experienced how easy it is to integrate into our multicultural society”, he added.
He explained that in this age of globalisation, education, innovation and knowledge are key drivers of the global economy, saying Canada’s government will continue to attract the best and the brightest students.
Earlier, the High Commissioner lauded Nigerian students studying in the country, harping that they have been good ambassadors of Nigeria; and that being part of Canada and its educational institutions has enriched the society.
‘Generally well-regarded, Nigerian students in Canada are worthy ambassadors of their country. They enrich Canada’s educational institutions and each of them represents a new link between our two countries that helps to build further the ties that unite us’, he added.
