Kogi Police Kill Kidnappers in Camouflage, Rescue Victims

Kogi state Police Command on Friday gunned down one kidnapper dressed in Military camouflage and rescued three victims along Okene-Edo boundary.

The Police Commission­er, Bancen Gwana while addressing newsmen on Friday after the raid by his men said the kidnappers were four in number.

According to him, they kidnapped their three victims along Adogo-Ebia in Ajaokuta local government area of the state at about 10am while they were traveling with their vehicle.

The Commission­er said when the kidnappers saw the car coming, they blocked the road and ordered the passengers out of the vehicles and robbed them.

He disclosed further that after robbing them of their possession, they then ordered them to move into the bush adding that when they got the news, he quickly deployed his men to follow them with the hope of arresting them.

The Police Commission­er said luck ran out on them when his men tracked them along Okene-Benin boundary as they were relaxing with their victims in the bush after trekking for five hours.

He further mentioned that immediatel­y the kidnappers saw their men, they open fire but his men replied immediatel­y which led to the death of one of the kidnappers that dresses in Military camouflage.

He added that the other three kidnappers escaped with gunshot wounds as he had deployed his men to go after them before they escaped.

He therefore called on the general public to report any body with gunshot to the command.

One of the rescued victims, Mr. Mustapha Akaba said he was on his way to Ebiya for third day prayers of his friend's father when they encountere­d the kidnappers.
