2017 BMW Alpina B7 xDrive is 600-HP Luxury Sedan

-

BMW has officially announced the all-new 2017 BMW Alpina B7 xDrive. Available at select dealerships starting September 2016, the 2017 BMW Alpina B7 xDrive is powered by a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine sporting 600 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. As a result, the luxury performance sedan is capable of accelerating from zero-to-60 mph in just 3.6 seconds, making it 0.8 seconds faster than its predecessor. It will also have a preliminary top speed of 193 mph.

The powerplant is mated to a new generation eight-speed Sport Automatic Transmission with Alpina Switch-Tronic. Drivers can choose between Automatic, Sport and Manual modes depending on the driving experience they desire.

Featuring cutting-edge suspension technology, the sedan has a two-axle air suspension system that enables the ride height to be changed with a maximum ride height adjustment range of 1.6-inches available.

At speeds above 140 mph, the Alpina B7 will lower its ride height by 0.8 inches, resulting in a low center of gravity to increase agility and high-speed stability.

The ride height can also be raised by 0.8 inches at speeds up to 20 mph to increase ground clearance.

Highlighting the special Alpina model on the exterior are front and rear spoilers with the aerodynamic components helping reduce lift on the front and rear axles.

Openings at the front of the vehicle help direct airflow to the individual components of the sedan’s high-performance cooling system while the iconic BMW kidney grille has been fitted with an integrated air flap control system that adapts to the Alpina B7’s cooling needs. Fitted on all four corners are 20-inch Alpina Classic wheels paired with Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires measuring 255/40/20 and 295/35/20.

This is also the first time the BMW Alpina B7 xDrive features Integral Active Steering, which combines a variable ratio electric steering system at the front axle with active steering on the rear axle so that the wheels can turn a maximum of three degrees.
