Police Arrest Teenage Abductor of New-born in Yobe

Police in Yobe State have arrested a teenage abductor of a newborn baby. The police also paraded were 15 other persons arrested in connection with various criminal activities.

The commission­er of police, Zannah Ibrahim, during the parade of 15 suspected criminals, said the teenage girl who was arrested for abducting the newly born baby had been charged to court.

He said the culprit visited the state specialist­s’ hospital to share the joy of the new born baby with the family only to cunningly steal the baby away. He said: “The abductor of the newly born baby has been captured, quizzed and currently charged to court.

Those paraded were involved in culpable homicide, car theft, criminal conspiracy and office breaking among others.

Ibrahim disclosed that three suspects involved in the stealing and purchases of INEC computers were also apprehende­d as well as a suspect alleged to have raped a teenage girl. The suspects, according to him, will all be charged to court for the various offences committed.

Some of the suspects interviewe­d by journalist­s agreed to have committed the offences and pleaded for leniency.

The police boss who argued that crime rate has been on the decrease since the commenceme­nt of 2016, noted that the police have foiled many crimes with the arrest of several criminals and attributed it to the effective synergy between the various security formations.

The CP thanked the people of the state for the support accorded to security agencies which contribute­d to the reduction in crime and hope that will be sustained.
