STEPPING UP WITH YOU VS CAMPAIGN
Recently, Malta Guinness unveiled Nigerian comedian Bright Okpocha popularly known as BasketMouth as its official brand ambassador during a sign on event at Guinness Headquarters in Lagos. The endorsement is part of its plans to step up its inspirational You Vs Campaign which is designed to inspire Nigerians to take on their daily challenges with determination and a smile on their faces.
Since its launch in the last quarter of 2015 with ‘ Traffic Challenge’, the campaign has generated public interest. Commuters in Lagos enjoyed free bus rides to and from work for the day as they enjoyed their free cans of refreshing Malta Guinness.
Speaking on the campaign and the endorsement of BasketMouth as Malta Guinness’ Brand Ambassador, the Marketing and Innovation Director, Guinness Nigeria Plc, Mr. Gavin Pike said it is a move to consolidate on the on- going success of the You Vs campaign.
“The You Vs campaign recognises the determination Nigerians draw on to face their daily challenges and we believe a smile on your face and spring in your step will definitely help you achieve positive results.
The free bus rides marking the start of this campaign was our way of acknowledging one of the many daily challenges Nigerians face and demonstrate how this challenge can be conquered with a simple heartfelt smile. Thus, we have signed up BasketMouth as an ambassador because he has a story to tell. His story is an example of how positive attitudes in facing your challenges can help you achieve unprecedented success.” Pike explained.
To further ensure Nigerians face their challenges without jeopardising their fun, Mr. Uche Onwudiwe, Marketing Manager Malts, added that “in addition to us unveiling BasketMouth as our Brand Ambassador, we are also boosting the You Vs campaign by launching our interactive online portal; www. myyouvs. com, where Nigerians can share the lighter side of any task they may be engaged in. As you share your selfie or send a post, you are helping to reduce the stress levels of others by showcasing the lighter side of whatever task you may be challenged with”.
While speaking on his vision for the brand, BasketMouth promised to live up to his role as an inspiration to Nigerians and also to promote the image of the brand.
He said “Malta Guinness has been in Nigeria for 25 years, solidly supporting Nigerians in their drive to success. Nigerians are truly a unique people as they have been able to balance strife and smiles on a daily basis. While faced with the everyday hustle and bustle, Malta Guinness has always provided the required energy needed to maintain their bodies in top shape physically and mentally. Thus, my role is to further encourage Nigerians to keep up this drive and whenever the energy seems to be dwindling, they should simply get a bottle or can of Malta Guinness and be revitalised”.
