58th Grammy Award Holds Tomorrow
The prestigious musical award, Grammy will kick off tomorrow at the Staples Centre, Los Angeles , California, with a promising opening performance by Taylor Swift. The seven-time nominee will open the show with a song from her ‘1989’ album. Other performers of the night include Adele, Robin Thicke, Lady Gaga, Carrie Underwood, Miguel, Alabama Shakes among others.
The award will be hosted by actor, musician, and two-time Grammy award winner, LL Cool J.
Swift is one of the biggest nominees of the award and will be opening the award for the second time. She follows rapper Kendrick Lamar who bagged 11 nominations and beat the previously held record by Eminem as the most nominated artiste in one night. Other nominees include Drake, Ed Sheeran, John Legend among others.
Beyonce proved that she is an activist, entertainer and a business woman rolled in one. She caused an euphoria last weekend with the release of a new single ‘formation’ hours before er super bowl performance. Both the video and her performance are burning topics in the media. The video has great undertones of activism for black lives and feminism. Shot in New Orleans, Beyonce lent her voice to victims of hurricane Katrina and police brutality in the state. In a laid-back drawl, the superstar singer boasted of her roots and her success. In her usual fashion, she created striking visuals with her sensual dance steps and catchy phrases like ‘I slay’, ‘Hot Sauce in my bag’, ‘Black Bill Gates’ and ‘Best Revenge is in paper’. Her feminism chant is seen when she calls her girls to get in formation- a good pointer that ‘Women still rule the world’. Other suggestions are made in the lyrics too, particularly when she rewards men with a trip to Red Lobster, that is if they are meet up with her sexual demands.
Critics see her video as both political daring and timely.
At the Super Bowl, she reiterated her defiance by rocking an outfit similar to that of late Michael Jackson, paying tribute to Black Panthers as well as Malcolm X. Her valiant expression did not augur well with conservatives and have led to an anti-Beyonce protest.

DANIEL BRYAN BADES WWE GOODBYE
In an emotional outpour at Monday Night RAW, WWE superstar Daniel Bryan waved his fans goodbye as he retires from wrestling due to medical reasons. Daniel who was known for his punch line ‘Yes’ rose to stardom as the indisputable tag team member of the Demon, Cane. Their constant disagreement led to the chant ‘Yes’ which became metamorphosed to a movement. Bryan’s career peaked when he won both the WWE and World Heavyweight Championships at Wrestlemania 30, but had to forfeit the titles to undergo neck surgery. In 2015, he returned to take centre stage by winning the Intercontinental title. Again, he relinquished the title for concussion-related injury. Although doctors certified him ok but WWE had second thoughts of bringing the wrestler back to the ring.
TITUS O’NEIL’S SUSPENSION SPARKS OUTCRY
The superstar fans are unhappy with Vince McMahon’s decision to suspend the star over what many have called a playful scuffle. It was gathered that the WWE superstars gathered to bade Daniel Bryan goodbye after RAW and in a state of excitement, Titus grabbed McMahon as he exited the stage. Although the latter seemed unaffected at the moment, he would later land a 90 days suspension on the wrestler. Fans have taken to social media to express their displeasure calling the action unnecessary and stupid. However, the suspension has been reduced to 60 days but it’s still not reducing the backlash from fans who also feel it’s a racism, after all the wrestler has been a good citizen of WWE with his charity shows and exemplary fatherhood character outside ring. But McMahon is playing tough and aggressively passing a message to others that no one messes with the boss. What this means for te good-natured wrestler is that he will be missing out in WrestleMania 32
KELLY CLARKSON IS AN AUTHOR
After teasing her fans on Instagram pages with clues about her upcoming project, Kelly Clarkson finally revealed her mystery project. It’s a children’s book inspired by her 20 month-old daughter River Rose. Titled River Rose and the Magical Lullaby, the 33 year-old pregnant mother said that she got the writing bug as she toured the world with her daughter. The book is billed to release in October. Meanwhile Kelly who has become a staple at the Grammys would be missing in action as her baby is due any moment.

The Kardashians are famous for pulling surprises in their relationships. One minute they are in love, the next minute they are walking out on love. You never can tell when they are pulling a Kardashian on you. They simply change their moods like diapers. Just few days after she broke up with her Houston Rockets player boyfriend, James Harden, Khloe Kardashian is seen having a late-dinner date with her ex-boyfriend, rapper French Montana. As if that didn’t get us confused enough, she is all best friend to her ex-husband Lamar Odom since his drug overdose saga last October. They both spent the Super Bowl Sunday together and travelled to NYC together for the first time for Kanye West Album launch. There are speculations that the Kocktails with Khloe host is still in love with her ex-husband. Is there going to be a reunion?
JANET JACKSON BOUNCES BACK
After cancelling her Unbreakable tour last December due to an undisclosed ailment, the singer and sister of the late pop legend Michael Jackson is finally back to her feet. She was seen for the first time in London in company of her billionaire husband Wissam Al Mana.
The 49 year-old pop star told her fans on Christmas eve that she would be going on an emergency surgery on doctor’s advice, thus rescheduling her tour to March. She denied that she had cancer, albeit the ailment was one that required urgent attention.
ALL THE SURPRISES AT KANYE WEST’S ‘LIFE OF PABLO’ ALBUM LAUNCH
Drama king Kanye West couldn’t have his album launch and fashion show without some drama. He made a spectacle at Madison Square Garden, New York City, where it all went down. Known for his ostentatious ways, it wasn’t surprising to see him dress his celebrity wife Kim Kardashian in furry frock with full cleavage display, and also the rest of her family. Then he went on to sign Naomi Campbell to grace his fashion runway, clearly side-stepping Kardashian clan’s top model, Kendall.
He couldn’t resist taking a swipe at Taylor Swift whom he claimed he made famous with the Grammy award stint few years ago. Adding more colour to his drama, he announced that he will be having a new video game ‘Only One’ inspired by his late mother flying to heaven.
