Romance Novels from Ankara Press

- Solomon Elusoji

Abuja-based romance imprint, Ankara Press, has announced the release of its first six titles in print format. The six novels, originally published as e-books in November 2014, will be available in Nigeria from today and priced at N750.

The six print titles are: A Tailor-made Romance by Oyindamola Affinnih, Black Sparkle Romance by Amara Nicole Okolo, A Taste of Love by Sifa Gowon, Love’s Persuasion by Ola Awonubi, Finding Love Again by Chioma Iwunze-Ibiam and Elevator Kiss by Amina Thula.

“We have had a fantastic response to the e-books, but have also had a lot of enquiries from readers asking when we will be publishing the books in hard copy,” Ankara Press’ publishing director, Emma Shercliff, said in a press release. “So we’re really excited to announce that we will be releasing the first six Ankara Press novels in print in Nigeria on Valentine’s Day.”

Shercliff also announced that two new novels, The Seeing Place by Aziza Eden Walker and Love Next Door by South African writer, Amina Thula, would be released in e-book format today.

“Ankara Press will also be publishing two new novels in e-book format on 14th February,” she said. “The Seeing Place by Aziza Eden Walker is the story of an up-and-coming actor who falls for his casting director. Love Next Door is the second novel for Ankara Press by South African writer Amina Thula, whose first book Elevator Kiss has been a big hit with romance readers.”

Ankara Press was launched in December 2014 and is devoted to publishing easy-to-read, purse-sized books with African settings, storylines and characters. There has been a global response to the stories, with media coverage and readers from around the world. It is an imprint of groundbreaking Nigerian publisher, Cassava Republic Press.

When asked about future publishing plans, Shercliff said: “We are trying hard to keep up with the demand from our readers and hope to publish another four titles in e-book format before the end of 2016. We will also release the first six print titles in the UK and Europe on 1st July 2016.”
