Effort by top members of the People Democratic Party (PDP) to reorganise the party for efficient performance in order for it to regain the control of power in 2019 in the country has been revealed by the trio of Akwa Ibom State Governor, Emmanuel Udom, his Gombe State Counterpart Ibrahim Dankwabo and former Governor, Gabriel Suswam of Benue State.

They also foretold the resurgence of the party in 2019.

The trio who separately spoke at the weekend at the burial of Aya Nguyemen Tor-Najime, the grandmother of Suswam, at Tse Tor-Najime, Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State, averred that the PDP would take advantage of the failings of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), to assume leadership of the country in the next general election.

They insisted that the PDP performed creditably well despite the negative picture being painted about the party by the ruling party, stressing that it would br left to Nigerians to take a position at the appropriate time.

According to Governor Dankwambo, “What we are concerned with for now is to ensure nation-building and not politicking, but whether we are building Nigerian or not is for Nigerians to say, whether the economy is growing or shrinking is also left for Nigerians to say at the appropriate time.

“For 16 years, the PDP provided a level playing field for all political parties to thrive, so, if any party will think it will extinct the PDP, it is left to be seen. I am saying it with a loud voice that this calibre of people who came to Aso Villa by chance will leave at the next election.”

Udom praised the resilience of the PDP members who are still behind Suswam and the party in the state even as he stated that the party was still as strong as it used to be.

He said with the level of development provided by the former governor in the state, the people would realise the mistake they made and return the PDP to power in 2019.
