CJN Challenges Lawyers on Mentoring Younger Colleagues at Gadzama Chambers’ Commission­ing

The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Hon Justice Mahmud Mohammed has urged Nigerian lawyers to ensure they move with the times and not get left behind in the fast growing internatio­nal legal community. He also advised that they mentor younger lawyers in practice.

The CJN gave this charge at the official commission­ing of the law office of J.K Gadzama LLP in Abuja last Tuesday, the event also marked the 25th anniversar­y of the law firm.

Justice Mahmud Mohammed asserted that in an era where the world has become a global village, lawyers should emulate the industry, hard work, and diligence of Chief J.K Gadzama SAN, the founding principal partner of the chambers who with tenacity ensured that the firm became a notable brand in the global legal industry.

Gadzama in his welcome remarks stated that the firm in the past 25 years has made profession­alism, integrity, excellence and courage its core values in order to ensure the maximum satisfacti­on of its clientele.

After the CJN cut the tape to declare the complex open, guests which comprised of a score of Senior Advocates, former ministers, justices of the appellate courts were taken on a guided tour of the 4-story complex which comprised of a library on the 2nd floor named after former CJN Muhammadu Lawal Uwais, a Conference Hall on the ground floor named after former CJN, Alfa Belgore, a Moot Court room in the Pent House named after Niki Tobi JSC (Rtd), a Board Room on the 3rd floor named after FRA Williams SAN, the Janada Internatio­nal Centre for Arbitratio­n and Mediation on the ground floor in memory of Mrs. Janada Gadzama who passed on last year, a Virtual Library on 2nd floor named after G.A. Oguntade JSC (Rtd), the Dome (a Staff Common Room) named after a late counsel in the chambers, a printing press and a gym.

The keynote lecture was delivered by former Director General of the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, Professor Epiphany Azinge SAN and his lecture was aptly titled ‘Law Office and Efficient Legal Service Delivery.’

The firm which has 38 counsel has offices in Abuja, Lagos, Maiduguri, London, South Florida, and Lassa in Bornu State.
