OPIC Unveils New Makun City
AOgun State Property and Investment Corporation (OPIC) has unveiled it high-profile New Makun City being developed at Km 52 Sagamu interchange along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
At the unveiling and commissioning of the first phase of the New Makun City held in commemoration of the 40th anniversary of Ogun State, the Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun said OPIC had contributed through its development activities to the fulfillment of the mission to rebuild the State and his administration’s effort and vision to provide affordable housing for the residents of the State.
According to Mr. Babajide Odusolu, the Special Adviser/ Managing Director of OPIC, the New Makun City covers an area of 750 hectares and on completion would have both residential and commercial districts with important attractions, including cycling trails, a racing track, executive golf course and a mini water park for recreational use.
Odusolu said the New Makun City was being developed, using a twin strategy of OPIC direct intervention and development agreements with private organisations such as Property Mart, Lafarge, Practical Habitat and other infrastructure service partners.
He added that the first phase that was commissioned recently covered 180 hectares and was focused on the construction of a 5km asphaltic road network and development of pilot units of 3 bedroom detached bungalows.
He said OPIC had partnered with contractors such as La- farge Holcim to put up the concrete carcass units, while the actual finishing was done by OPIC. The first ten of such units were fully delivered within a 21-day period with plans on-going to develop 100 more units within the next six months. In addition, OPIC will be delivering serviced plots for prospective buyers.
He urged the general public to take the OPIC advantage which is a purchase-plan that is open to intending buyers, allowing a minimum of 30% deposit, with the balance spread over a period of 3 years.
