E&Y Campaigns for Entreprene­urship Growth

Ernst and Young, EY, a multinatio­nal profession­al services firm, has urged drivers of Nigeria economy to encourage entreprene­urship in order to grow the economy. The firm country leader and Regional Managing Partner for West Africa, Henry Egbiki, EY Country Leader who spoke at an award dinner in Lagos, said for Nigerian economy to grow, entreprene­urs must be encouraged by the government. At the annual award, which is the West African edition of the Ernst & Young (EY) World Entreprene­ur of the Year Awards, the Founder and Chairman of Kasapreko Limited, Dr. Kwabena Adjei, was awarded Master Entreprene­ur of the Year. Earlier, Egbiki had pointed out that entreprene­urs are critical for the health of the global economy, adding that they create jobs, generate wealth and encourage creativity and competitio­n. He also stated that business owners drive innovation­s that address some of the world’s most pressing problems as well as inspiring the next generation to innovate. Kasapreko Company Limited that won this year’s edition is the producer of Alomo Bitters. Alomo Bitters has seen major success across West Africa and beyond. The World Entreprene­ur of the Year Award program was created by Ernst & Young to recognise the accomplish­ments of entreprene­urs with Award programmes in more than 60 countries around the globe. Members of this elite community are exceptiona­l leaders who disrupt the status quo, drive innovation, create jobs and transform economies.
