The management of Lagos State University (LASU) has suspended 11 former executive members of the Students’ Society of History and International Studies (SSOHIS) indefinitely.

The university made this known in its official bulletin obtained by THISDAY in Lagos yesterday.

According to the bulletin, the suspended students were the organisers of the ill-fated party of the association where the unfortunate death of a 200 level student of Industrial Relations and Personnel Management (IRPM), Omolara Gbadeyan, occurred.

According to the statement, the affected students who would no longer be allowed to participate in any of the institution’s students’ related activity, are also expected to face the Students’ Disciplinary Committee, immediately.

“The affected students are henceforth, not allowed to participate in any of the students’ related activity. In addition, they are expected to face the “Student’s Disciplinary Committee immediately.”

The management which had in an earlier bulletin said it received the shocking news after the sad event had occurred, immediately swung into action.

“The management immediately swung into action by directing the health service department, the security unit and students’ division to carry out detailed investigation on the incident.

“The incident was reported to the police while the body of the deceased was deposited at the morgue of Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH).

An autopsy will be carried to determine the cause of the death, the bulletin said.
