National Associatio­n of Catholic Lawyers Hold Career Developmen­t Seminar

The National Associatio­n of Catholic Lawyers (Lagos Archdioces­e Chapter) is organising its Career Developmen­t seminar with the theme “Retooling Your Law Practice” on Saturday 5th March 2016 at the Colonnades Hotel Ikoyi Lagos at 9am. This is the second Seminar in the series. Last year’s theme was ‘Alternativ­e Income Generating Strategies for Lawyers in Practice.’

This year promises to be even more interestin­g. The theme was chosen to reflect the view that as times change lawyers need to re-fit and retool, to have successful and fulfilling profession­al lives. The seminar will begin with a short opening ceremony under the chairmansh­ip of Mr. Augustine Alegeh SAN, the NBA President. To set the tone, a keynote speech will be delivered by Mrs. Boma Ozobia, a partner at Sterling Partnershi­p and former President of the Commonweal­th Lawyers’ Associatio­n. Broadly, the speakers have been organised under two heads. The first is “Practising Law in a fast paced and evolving world -What a lawyer should do”. The speakers dealing with this topic are Professor Fabian Ajogwu S.A.N. a Professor of Corporate Governance at the Pan Atlantic University Lagos and Partner at Kenna & Partners Law firm, Mrs Titi Akinlawon S.A.N. of Akinlawon & Ajomo Legal Practition­ers and Mr Sonnie Ekwowusi a legal practition­er and a member of THISDAY Newspaper Editorial Board. Hon Justice Chinwe Iyizoba of the Court of Appeal Lagos Division will chair this session.

The second topic ‘Keeping Faith’ will be treated by the following speakers:- Professor Juan Elegido, Vice Chancellor of the Pan Atlantic University, Mr. Uche Attoh, member of the Lagos Business School Faculty and a seasoned labour relations expert and Dr Theresa Okafor Director of Foundation for African Cultural Heritage and winner of the Woman of the Year Award at the Ninth Edition of the World Congress of Families (WCF) held last year at Salt Lake City, Utah, USA. The chairman of this session will be Chief Philip .N. Umeh a legal practition­er and former National Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Associatio­n.
