.... Gets New Commission­er of Police, Adebanjo

Ernest Chinwo Mr. Foluso Adebanjo yesterday assumed duty as the 36th Rivers State Commission­er of Police.

A statement issued in Port Harcourt by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmad Muhammad, said Adebanjo succeeded Musa Kimo, who has now been deployed to the Force Headquarte­rs, Abuja.

Muhammad said: “The new Commission­er of Police joined the Nigeria Police in 1984 as Cadet Assistant Superinten­dent of Police and rose through the ranks to his present rank of Commission­er of Police in 2012.

He is a holder of bachelor and masters degrees in Criminolog­y/ Criminal Justice Administra­tion and Management obtained from the University of Central Oklahoma, United States of America. He is an alumnus of the elitist National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Jos.

“He has served in various capacities in the force; he was in the recent past the Commission­er of Police Explosive Ordinance Disposal (Anti-Bomb), Force Headquarte­rs, Abuja and Commission­er of Police Edo State Command. He was until his present posting a Commission­er of Police, Force Headquarte­rs, Abuja.”

He said Adebanjo has an impeccable track records in crime fighting and had attended various developmen­t courses both at home and abroad.

“While assuring the good people of Rivers State to remain confident and trusting in his ability to dutifully discharge the police constituti­onal mandate of ensuring public peace and security; the Commission­er of Police appeals for their cooperatio­n, support and understand­ing to enable him put in place virile and sustained security architectu­re that will bring the crime level in the state to an appreciabl­e level,” the statement said.
