Ita-Giwa Commiserates with Bola Kuforiji-Olubi’s Family

Former Presidential Adviser on National Assembly Matters and political leader of the Bakassi people, Senator Florence Ita-Giwa, has condoled with the families of the late Minister of Commerce, Mrs. Bola KuforijiOlubi, who passed on at the ripe age of 80.

In a statement signed yesterday, Ita Giwa eulogises the late Olubi and described her as a consummate technocrat who has left her footprints on the sands of time.

According to her, it was barely two months that we celebrated her birthday but who are we to question God but I urge the families to take solace in the fact that she lived a good life and played her roles significantly as a leader, a wife, mother and grandmother.

Ita Giwa urged the womenfolks to brace up for life challenges and be prepared to grow and aspire for great things which will afford them the platforms to impact on their societies.

Her statement read in parts: “Death is a necessary end. But we always wish it comes when we are fulfilled and when we have impacted significantly on people around us.

“We will all miss her and I want to urge her family members to be grateful to God that mama lived a good life that is worthy of emulation.

“I pray for the repose of her soul and for the loved one she left behind to have the fortitude to bear the loss.”

The late Olubi was the first woman in sub-Saharan Africa to serve as chairman of a leading financial institution, United Bank for Africa (UBA); the first Chairman of Ogun-Osun River Basin Development Authority and Vice Chairman, National Conference on Nigerian Foreign Policy, among others.
