Samsung Enters 2016 Worst Products List

Two of Samsung Electronic­s’ products have made the list of worst products for year just ended . These included Samsung Galaxy Note 7 and its Top Load washing machine which were both recalled from the market after reported faults.

The Korean giant had issued a recall of its Galaxy Note 7 smartphone in early September in 10 markets, including the US and South Korea over battery defect, while it is yet to get a respite from the Note 7 fiasco which had impacted negatively on its image and financial books, the company is yet grappling with incidents of “exploding” washing machines, which had forced it to recall up to 2.8 million products from the market due to risk of impact injury.

These events saw the brand enter into reviewed.com five worst products of 2016. According to the research and reviews site, Samsung Note 7 would have been one of the best innovation­s of 2016, however, its accompanyi­ng fault dragged its global ranking to zero level.

This rating had yet deepened the woes of the market leader which had not stopped counting its losses both in value and monetarily.

Although the company had posted a 50% profit surge in its guidance for the fourth quarter of 2016, a developmen­t which came as a shocker to analysts who had predicted a sharp drop in profits, following the Note 7 issues.

It said it had expected to post 9.2tn won ($7.8bn, £6.2bn) in operating profit for the months of September to December.

The technology consultant to IDC, Bryan Ma stated further “When you look at the headlines over the last couple of months it’s always been about exploding batteries and doom for Samsung, but we’ve got to keep in mind that that’s not their only business .What’s really driving these earnings is strong demand for memory and displays. And they are really, really profitable businesses.
