A Night of Love at MTNF-MUSON Concert
The atmosphere at Agip Recital Hall at MUSON Centre, Onikan last week was splendid as the MTNF-MUSON alumni unleashed what would for a long time remain one of the best shows on a Valentine’s Day’s eve. Guests at the venue were prepped for the thrilling experience with scintillating tunes from DJ Ozone, who took the guests down the memory lane.
With a lot of food and drinks to savour, the atmosphere around the ‘love garden’ which served as the holding area for the guests resonated what a love experience should be. By the time the show got on the way, the guests were held spellbound as the alumni delivered melodious tunes across jazz, funk, blues and folklore performed on string and wind instruments. As the performances switched between classical and contemporary tunes, the frequent standing ovations from the audience signified a night of pageantry.
An ecstatic Executive Secretary of the MTN Foundation, Ms. Nonny Ugboma, said, “This is a good justification for MTN Foundation’s investment in promoting music education and enhancing youth development through partnerships.
“We have sponsored over 250 students in the 10 years of this programme. What we saw this night is a demonstration of the quality inherent in the programme. So long as we can, as a Foundation, we will always support the development of these talents across Nigeria.”
In her remarks, Director of the MUSON School of Music, Mrs. Marion Akpata, thanked the MTN Foundation stating that “MUSON had impacted greatly in the Nigerian music and music education.”
Some of the songs performed include: Ifunanya and Bank Alert by P Square; Mad Over You by Run Town; Elephant Medley from the Moulin Rouge; I’ll Always Love You by Whitney Houston; Colour of the Wind by Alan Menken among others. The MUSON School of Music was established in 1989 to train school age children and members of the general public interested in learning to play musical instrument and in voice.
