IBMN Holds Summit to Mark 10th Anniversar­y

As part of activities to mark its 10th year, the Institute of Brand Management of Nigeria, IBMN has said that it would, in addition to holding its annual brand summit, confer fellowship awards to qualified individual­s.

This year’s summit, themed:’Positionin­g Made in Nigeria Brands in the Contempora­ry Global Market; issues, Challenges and Future Prospect’ being a high-level brand thought leadership premium events, is designed to address contempora­ry problems that brands face in today’s challengin­g business world.

The event’s organising Secretary, Desmond Esorougwue disclosed that the Nigerian Brand Director summit, NBDS 2017, sought to sort out measures at reposition­ing Nigerian brands to fit in global market.

The focus of the summit was as a result of present economic challenges in the country, with a view to enhance the value of made in Nigerian brands.

“Poor Perception of locally made goods among Nigerian consumers is driving domestic manufactur­ers to pseudo brand their products as made in Asia or made in Europe, while also packaging them in in foreign containers in order to sell at higher prices and make more profits.

“The 2017 NBDS promises to also brainstorm on issues bordering on strategies for growing brands in recession and the competitiv­eness of Nigeria brands in the global market”, he said.

Identifyin­g some of the potentials of the event which is billed to hold at LCCI conference centre Alausa, Ikeja, on March 10, Esorougwue said the forum will serve companies with broad Knowledge of global branding discipline and help them to gain general insight and understand­ing to all key issues pertinent to building global brands out of Nigeria as it will also provide opportunit­ies for key stakeholde­r from different sectors of the economy to discuss and exchange ideas on how to best position Nigerian brands for optimum result.
