HOW ARAMIDE IS CHANGING THE FACE OF MUSIC

As the Nigerian music industry grows, music enthusiasts are coming to terms with the diverse talents springing up. Many of the artistes, however, still give what music lovers are used to, albeit, in a different way, making the place of change unavoidable. Afro Soul diva, Aramide is proving with time that we don’t need to stick to what we already have and that something new and refreshing could be infused into the Nigerian music. Her choice of genre of music, Afro Soul tells part of it.

Though some have compared her to Asa, but a closer look will reveal that both artistes are not in for the same strife. Asa has a different sound and rhythm that characterise her kind of music. Aramide’s genre is known as Afro Soul, a fusion of Soul and African sound, while Asa does soul sometimes with foreign sound. Aramide stated that Afro Soul music, for her, came up as a result of the various sounds that influenced her.

With the release of her debut album, Suitcase, the stage is set for continuous change. Anyone who has listened to Aramide’s Suitcase album would notice something unusual.

Unlike what many artistes would do just to get attention, Aramide does music for its sake. No lewd lyrics or indecent songs. What we have rather is a story telling experience that tells her journey to the world. Each song takes listeners to situations that they can relate to.

The 15-track album signifies consistency, decency and the art of music at work. She has been able to get good followership with her kind of music because there are music lovers out there who subscribe to her kind of music.
