UNBRIDLED FUN FOR ABEOKUTA RESIDENTS AT LAFFTA FEST

-

For residents of Abeokuta and neighbouring communities in Ogun State, it was unbridled fun when the popular comedy concert, Glo Laffta Fest came to the city.

The show which was held at the Silver Jubilee Hall had an interesting blend of established comedians and up-and-coming talents pushing to make a mark in the comedy industry. The performance of the two categories of artistes ensured an unforgettable evening of fun and laughter for Glo subscribers and other guests at the event.

Leading the pack of humour merchants who performed at the show was Glo ambassador, Godwin Komone, popularly called Gordons. Also on the train were Bash, Acapella, Helen Paul, and Still Ringing which is comprised of Ojo Ladipupo Daniel and Ogunsina Ayodeji Samuel.

Complimenting the big names were new comic talents including Bishop, MC Sogo, MC Mike and MC Black. MC Sogo thrilled the audience with ingenious jokes around the shortcomings of Nigeria’s movie indus- try, while Bishop’s jokes centered around Nigerian musicians. MC Mike and MC Black on their part joked about the rising love for money in Nigeria and young ladies who spoke bad English.

Leading female comedian Helen Paul, who made her debut appearance in the Laffta Fest concert at the Abeokuta edition, introduced a new twist into the performances by offering N50,000 prize money for any lady who could come on stage to remove her wig. A number of ladies rushed out in a bid to snatch the offer, and Helen Paul proceeded to conduct a mock beauty pageant, throwing a series of hilarious banters along the way. She ended up giving out more than N50,000 to the ladies.

Acapella took over from where she stopped, and yet again was outstanding in his delivery. He opened his performance with a series of hilarious wisecracks before taking on the political arena, making jokes out of current issues in the country, including the present economic recession.

Bash came on the stage next and made jokes of some popular typecast mannerisms associated with people from different ethnic backgrounds while using the Automatic Teller Machine (ATM). The master of the evening Gordons took over next, and led the audience on a comedy journey with interesting and hilarious jokes.
