Fashola Photographic Foundation Set for Launch

-

Come August 5, Lagos will witness the launch of the Fashola Photographic Foundation which is aimed at supporting, promoting and developing the art and technology of visual arts- photography, cinematography and videography in Nigeria. The launch is set to hold at the Banquet Hall, City Hall in Lagos.

Prior to the August launch, there will be a series of contests and workshops for emerging and professional photographers to raise awareness and develop critical thinking in contemporary photographic art in Nigeria.

The week-long workshop, which include street photography, documentary-making and portraitures, will further provide a supportive and inspirational community where photographers of all levels can build confidence in their creative and technical skills.

The Fashola Photo workshop is an annual tuitionfree professional workshop aimed at nurturing emerging talent from Nigeria. For every edition, 15 participants will be selected from across the region to participate in an intensive week-long workshop conducted by international professional photographers who volunteer their time and expertise to be a part of this initiative.

The inaugural photo contest will be held annually and, based on selected themes, will provide a platform for participants to gain recognition for their artistic and technical achievements. The theme for this year is “Dialogue with Nature and Nostalgia Portraits”. The Foundation is a befitting tribute to the late Alhaji Ademola Fashola by his children, as it celebrates their father and his great love for photography.
