- Uchechukwu Nnaike

A non-governmental organisation, the Bunmi Adedayo Foundation (BAF) has recently launched a crowdfunding initiative tagged ‘1K4Change Campaign’, aimed at raising funds from the public to pursue the foundation’s vision of transforming the educational landscape in public primary schools. The goal of the campaign is to raise N1,000 from 100,000 people.

With an emphasis on helping children from indigent background, the foundation said it employs a holistic and transformational approach in improving the learning outcomes by meeting all the requirements for quality education in its adopted schools.

Since its inception in January 2016, BAF said it has adopted five schools, two of which have been “completely transformed through our bouquet of programmes and interventions which include; continuous professional development for teachers; remodelling and renovation of school buildings, library, classroom furniture, sports facilities and ICT laboratory. Through BAF’s intervention, these two schools have now become one of the best public primary schools in Lagos State.” In line with its model, the foundation said the 1K4Change campaign is aimed at sourcing for funds to implement identified projects at the three remaining schools: Ire Akari Primary School, Isolo; Ebenezer Primary School, Egbeda; and Community Primary School, Lakowe. According to the Chairman, Board of Directors, Mr. Babatunde Akinleye, the campaign would provide the public with an opportunity to do good in little ways that do not hurt their pockets.

For ease of donation, he said the campaign has adopted multiple donation channels like the online payment portal at www.1k4change.org, direct bank transfer, USSD payment (*402*00006375*1000#) and donation boxes at all Tastee Fried Chicken (TFC) outlets.

The influencers signed up for campaign include celebrities and on-air personalities like Ali Baba, Comedian AY, Falz, Ogbolor, Gbenga Aborowa, BellaRose Okojie, Mannie, Benny Ark and Debola Lagos among others. Also partnering the foundation on the initiative is City 105.1FM and Tastee Fried Chicken.

In his remarks, Mr Femi Odutuga of City105.1FM reiterated his organisation’s support for the campaign and expressed its commitment to support the foundation for the long haul on the 1K4Change Campaign and for other projects.

Also, the, General Manager, TFC, Mrs. Modupe Folorusho lauded the initiative and stressed that the menace of poor quality education will come back to haunt everyone later if not addressed now.
