OSCAR PISTORIUS’ FAMILY TO TAKE LEGAL ACTION AGAINST BLADE RUNNER KILLER PRODUCERS
The family of South African Paralympian, Oscar Pistorius are very unhappy with the makers of a US drama Blade Runner Killer, scheduled for release next month.
The movie which focuses on the life of the sprinter who murdered his girlfriend four years ago, is a gross misrepresentation of the truth, according to the family. They argued that the filmmakers are rather portraying the prosecutor’s version.
Pistorius who is currently serving a six-year prison sentence made catchy headlines during his trial. The paralympian argued that he never intentionally shot his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp in 2013, that he had thought she was an intruder. The highly televised trial saw the prosecutors presenting facts and evidence that finally nailed Pistorius to the crime.
In the film, a South African actor based in the US Andreas Damm, plays Pistorius while a German model, Toni Garrn, plays Steenkamp. The trailer shows a tumultuous relationship between the sprinter and his model girlfriend which leads to the murder.
Highly infuriated by the narrative of the film, Pistorius’ family is threatening to sue the makers of the US film, A+E networks, a joint venture between Disney and ABC Television Group. Also, the Steenkamps publicly denied endorsing the film and expressed upset on learning about the movie’s plot.
