NIMC’S REGISTRATION FEE IN KWANDE LGA

-

There are several complaints against the officials of National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) in Kwande LGA of Benue State regarding the ongoing registration for National Identity Card as directed by the federal government. According to my investigation, the officials of NIMC who are registering the people of Kwande are collecting money from them as a registration fee. I have done my registration in Abuja without paying for it because I was not asked to pay. My friend, Akula Emmanuel, did his registration in Makurdi, the state capital but money was not collected from him. Gloria John has registered for the same thing in Abuja and many more but they were not asked to pay a fee for registration.

But at the headquarters of Kwande Local Government Area in Adikpo, specifically, the registration centre within the Local Government Secretariat, people are paying N200 as a registration fee. In Jato Aka, a community in Kwande LGA, a student of Benue State University, Makurdi, testified that he went to one of the registration centres to register and he was asked to pay N400. According to him, initially, he thought it was a joke but after waiting without being attended to by the officials of NIMC, he had no choice than to leave the place.

The concerned authorities should please do something urgently. Awunah, Pius Terwase, Mpape, Abuja
