Sanni, Lagos State Professor of Tax to Deliver Lecture on Multiplicity of Taxes
The Board of Trustees of the Lagos State Professorial Chair in Tax and Fiscal Matters, in collaboration with the Department of Commercial & Industrial Law, Faculty of Law, University of Lagos will hold its 1st Annual Lecture on November 28th, 2017.
The Lecture, titled “Policy, Legal And Administrative Imperatives in the Quest for Eradicating Multiplicity of Taxes in Lagos State”, will be delivered by Professor Abiola Sanni, the occupier of Lagos State Professorial Chair in Tax and Fiscal Matters at J.K. Ade-Ajayi Auditorium, University of Lagos, Akoka, Lagos, at 3pm.
The Lecture will be chaired by Honourable Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, while the Special Guest of Honour is the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode. Dr Wale Babalakin, SAN and Prof Toyin Ogundipe, FAS, are the Guests of Honour and Chief Host respectively.
The Lagos State Government, recently endowed a Professorial Chair for the advancement of Lagos State Taxation and the principle of Fiscal Federalism. Professor Abiola Sanni, the occupier of the Chair, was recently appointed the Chairman of the National Committee on the Review of National Tax Policy in 2016, to establish a sustainable framework for revamping of the Nigerian tax system. Professor Abiola Sanni is a Fellow and Legal Adviser of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN), among other professional bodies. He is also a member of International Centre for Tax and Development (ICTD) Advisory Group. ICTD is a global policy research network, which is devoted to improving the quality of tax policy and administration in developing countries, with a special focus on sub-Saharan Africa.
