Ogun to Earmark $1m Seed Capital for Tech Hub

- Emma Okonji

The Ogun State government is to earmark $1million dollar seed capital to develop technology hub in support of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) experts in the state.

Declaring open the first Technological Summit in the state, tagged TechSummitOgun, with the theme “Disruptive Innovation, Where are we?”, Amosun said that part of the fund would be used to bring to reality outstanding technological ideas of some of our gurus in the field.

This, according to him, is to boost digital literacy and technology entrepreneurship in the state, adding that, it will not only improve on the efficiency of government, but also impact positively on real-time feedback between the government and the people.

He stated further that as the state continues to put in place world-class Infrastructural facilities and the necessary ambience for businesses to thrive, it is also important to build up the youths to take advantage of business opportunities available in the state. The governor noted that the summit is a gateway to a vista of tech-driven innova- tion and will further enhance socio-economic benefits for the state. His government, he said, supported the summit, because it has the potential for creating new economies along the ICT value chain.

The Team Lead of TechSummitOgun, Mr. Ayoola Olaniyi said the purpose of the summit was to open Ogun State up to the world, through technology.

One of the resource persons, Mr. Bosun Tijani, enjoined the state government to explore the opportunity in the Agricultural sector, where the state has comparative advantage, saying that AgriTech should be the focus.
