Shelve Kano Visit or Face the Law, Police tell Kwankwaso
Kano Police Command has cautioned former governor and Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso to suspend his planned visit to Kano.
Commissioner of Police Rabiu Yusuf who gave the warning Friday morning insisted that failure to heed to security advice may attract stiffer implication.
Yusuf who address journalists on Friday at the Bompai Police headquarters maintained that intelligence indicated that the January 30th visit was already generating palpable fear and tendencies to be hijacked by miscreants.
The Police chief warned that Kwankwaso should consider postponing his plan political rally until the tension generated was down.
According to him, credible information at the disposal of the Command revealed that the proposed visit had generated palpable fears in the minds of the people of Kano State.
Yusuf added that there was apprehension among the general populace and the tendency to hijack the visit by some disgruntled politicians or miscreants cannot be underestimated.
While stressing the need for the Command to nip the problem in the bud, the Commissioner of Police maintained that it was the primary responsibility of the Police to protect lives and property and that any action or inaction by any person or group of persons that may jeopardise the relative peace the State was currently enjoying must be averted.
He however stated that it was the candid advice of the Command that such a visit to the State should be shelved by Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, until the tension generated by the planned visit was doused and security threat neutralised.
He said if the advice given to the immediate governor was not heeded, the law would take its course.
The commissioner assuring that the Command would continue to be firm, fair and just in providing a level playing field for all political gladiators to carry out their political activities without fear of molestation or intimidation.
