WESTLAND PROPERTIES BOSS, TAYO YUSUF, FETES ALL AT SISTER’S WEDDING

- TOKUNBO AFIKUYOMI STAGES A COMEBACK

A few weeks ago, a number of heavyweigh­ts in the property business in Lagos celebrated with Westland Properties boss, Tayo Yusuf, when his younger sister, Fausat Adedoja Yusuf, got married to her sweetheart Adetunji Phillips Ajayi.

Though the event, which held at the Vantage Centre on Acme Road, Ikeja, Lagos, has come and gone, it will still remain the talk of town for some time, as it literally oozed class and style. The guests had fun untill the wee hours of the following day.

Yusuf, also a philanthro­pist, is one of the young successful men in the property business. He is said to have helped many young men to actualise their dreams in life.

Times there were when he was one of the powerful men in power in the political circle. His profile rose to the envy of some when he became a senator on the platform of the then Alliance for Democracy, AD.

While he was at the National Assembly, he was, at different times, appointed to various committees. Indeed, he also enjoyed a robust relationsh­ip with the then President of the Senate, Alloysus Wabara.

However, his political tale changed in 2007 when he aspired to be governor of Lagos State. His friend and political boss, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who was then a former governor of Lagos State, was said to have anointed his then Chief of Staff, Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN.

All entreaties to make him forego his political ambition fell on deaf ears. Determined to actualise his dream, he dumped the AD and pitched his tent with the defunct All Nigeria People’s Party (ANPP). It was a wrong political step, which he later paid dearly for. His ambition to be the number one citizen in Lagos never materialis­ed.

Today, he is said to have realised his folly and retraced his steps. Therefore, having eaten the humble pie, he has now been‘ admitted’ into the APC fold. It was gathered that he would be contesting a senatorial seat to represent Lagos West Senatorial District under the APC, in 2019.
