ATCON to Honour ICT Icons
The Association of Telecommunication Companies of Nigeria, ATCON, is set to honour and reward efforts of dogged players in the information technology sector in a book.
This initiative followed the huge exploits and accomplishments in the sector which have not only aided human endeavours but assisted in enriching the nation’s economy.
The publication, featuring 100 celebrities, would highlight among others personal and corporate exploits of players in the sector, personal views, reports and challenges in the industry, developmental plans for the industry and recommendations on the way forward in the industry.
Other items that will go in the soon-to-bepublished book also include personal and corporate profile of players, their corporate social responsibility programmes and curriculum vitae.
Speaking at a press conference announcing the initiative, President of the Association, Mr Olusola Teniola, stated that the association conceived the idea to celebrate individuals and corporate organisations that have contributed and still leading innovation and creativity in the industry so as to immortalise the icons and encourage further investment in the sector.
“It is believed that the publication of this book would further encourage and inspire us as an institution to continue to intensify our advocacy drive in the Nigerian telecom and ICT ecosystem and continuous protection of the existing investment with the sole aim of attracting further investment into the sector as the proposed book is expected to chronicle all that these individuals and corporate organisations have done to grow the industry to where it is today and what they intend to do to speed up development in the sector,” he said.
Explaining further the goals of the process, Teniola said the association sought to put on record those who have contributed to the development of telecom and ICT in Nigeria.
