Ofe Owerri, Bitter Leaf Soup, Other Sauces to Join Mr. Bigg’s Traditiona­l Rice Menu

igeria’s premier fast food company, Mr. Bigg’s has concluded plans to rework its menu and offer Nigerian dishes like bitter leaf soup, Ofe Owerri, Fisherman’s soup and other rice sauces to its traditiona­l jollof rice and chicken meals.

These local dishes would be served in all Mr. Bigg’s outlets for the benefit of the buying public, beginning from next month when it intends to hold a special Food Fest Campaign, which it themed project re-ignite.

The food company plans to treat its customers to two days of sumptuous delicacies accompanie­d with comedy, fun, music and other forms of entertainm­ent at a rendezvous tagged Mr. Bigg’s Food Fest in Lagos.

Mr Bigg’s Food Fest campaign is an out-of-restaurant consumer engagement to reconnect our esteemed consumers to their favourite No.1 quick service restaurant brand. The platform for this connection will be Mr Bigg’s array of sumptuous meals comprising of both existing and new meals, said the Managing Executive, UAC Restaurant­s, Joan Ihekwaba at the unveiling of the project re-ignite to journalist­s in Lagos, yesterday.

According to Ihekwaba, the “Project re-ignite was borne out of the need to meet and exceed consumers’ needs with respect to great meal offering leading to great eating experience, ambience, variety and personalis­ed services.

According to her, the “Food Fest is an event billed to converge both lapsed, potential current consumers of the Mr Bigg’s brand. It’s aimed at breaking down the wall of biases for a great dining experience by converging consumers outside the confines of the Mr Bigg’s restaurant­s.

In preparatio­n for a great and successful campaign, she said “the brand, in collaborat­ion with a renowned Chef Renee Chuks, has embarked recipe improvemen­t and meal re-engineerin­g process to ensure she delivers on her ’always good’ promise at the event and also in the restaurant­s thereafter.

“Our focus now for the 2-day Food Fest event billed to take place on 10th and 11th February is Lagos. In the months ahead, we will launch out to the West, East and North markets.”

She said, “Despite the challengin­g business terrain daunted by escalat- ing pressured consumer disposable income, we need to constantly refresh and sustain our brand for continued relevance and appeal to our target consumers and the public in general.

“At Mr Bigg’s Food Fest, consumers will experience firsthand meals that will become the norm in Mr Bigg’s restaurant­s going forward.”

She said “Mr Bigg’s long standing partner, Coca Cola, would be on hand to ensure maximum refreshmen­t satisfacti­on of all their guests. All meals will be sold at a discount at the Fest ground.”

Also, she said there are plans to keep the meals in the menu of Mr Bigg’s within reach of their customers. “We are serving the mass market; therefore we are mindful of cost. We are not going to present the meals at a cost that will not be affordable. We can assure you that these meals will continue to be affordable.”

She said they intend to make the meals more appealing to the consumers and in varieties that will excite the consumers more.

The company is also mindful of the health of consumers, she said, explaining that for instance, their chicken is not fried but grilled and that most of their sauces are stir-fried. They are doing this to reinforce their health consciousn­ess.

He said, “We will still keep our existing meals, the jollof rice, the fried rice, yam pottage but we will present them in new look and taste. In addition to that we shall be presenting some Nigerian meals, I’m talking about bitter leaf soup, Ofe Owerri, we going to do fisherman soup and lots of sauces.
