Troops Arrest Three Boko Haram Terrorists

In continuati­on of its efforts to tame Boko Haram insurgency, military troops under Operation Lafiya Dole yesterday arrested three Boko Haram terrorists in Borno State.

According to Director of Army Public Relations, Brig Gen Texas Chukwu, “the troops of 23 Brigade Nigerian Army under Operation Lafiya Dole, acting on a tip off arrested three suspected Boko Haram terrorists at Ngurore.

“The suspects, Adam Yagga, Musa Kamsulum and Abba Djidoum are all from Darajimal in Bama Local Government Area of Borno State.

“One of the suspects, Abba Djidoum, with series of Gunshot wounds on his thigh, confessed to have operated with the Boko Haram terrorists at fringes of Izza, Wudula and Blakule in Bama Local Government Area of Borno State.”

Chukwu explained that one of the “suspect is undergoing preliminar­y investigat­ion with 23 Brigade Provost Company.

“We commend patriotic members of Civilian vigilante (Civilian JTF) for their resilience and continued cooperatio­n with troops, and urge members of the public to emulate their vigilance and security consciousn­ess by reporting any suspicious persons or objects to the nearest military location.

“We wish to remind repentant Boko Haram fighters that the window of opportunit­y to embrace the federal government Amnesty program is still open to them to surrender and lay down their weapons.

“It is also gratifying to report that the troops’ morale remains high as they dominate the general area with a robust fighting patrol in continuati­on with the clearance operations.”

The House of Representa­tives yesterday considered and passed the sum of N204.80 billion as 2017 Budget for the Nigerian Communicat­ions Commission (NCC).

According to a breakdown, the sum of 27.063 billion is earmarked for recurrent expenditur­e while 13.61 billion is for capital expenditur­e as well as 4.45 billion for special projects.

Also, the sums of 145.74 billion and N13.92 billion will be transferre­d to the federal government and the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF) respective­ly,

The sum of N9.751 million is earmarked for the budget of the Universal Service Provision Fund for the period ending on June 30, 2018.

Also, a bill for an Act to establish National Assembly Budget and Research Office which provides it with objective, timely and non-partisan analysis needed for economic and budget decisions; and for related matters.
