Tough Luck or Coincidence? Senator Olorunnimbe Mamora Loses Lucrative Appointments in a Row

-

There is no gainsaying Senator Olorunnimbe Mamora suffers the brute end of tough luck. Soon after experiencing a succession of disappointments, his recent dream of becoming an ambassador has dissipated into thin air, like a worthless imagination, fed upon illusion and put to death by reality. Call it fatal coincidence or tough luck, Mamora has been through a lot of disappointments in his political career. It could be recalled that he wanted to become governor of Lagos State but he was dropped and replaced with Babatunde Fashola by ex- Lagos governor and APC leader, Bola Tinubu. He wanted to go back to the Senate but he was replaced with another person. And just recently, his dream of becoming an ambassador ended abruptly. This development came to be via the resubmitted list of non- career ambassadorial nominees to the Senate for ratification by President Muhammadu Buhari. The name of Mamora, which was in the original list was

he launched during his time as governor had helped to rid the state of criminal elements, while the impact of his Operation 250 Roads is still felt today on the numerous roads he helped to build or repair. Since his retirement from military service, Marwa has concentrated more on his home state of Adamawa. Although he has repeatedly been frustrated in his governorship bid by the powers that be, he remains a loyal servant in the background, helping the state government with his experience in the art of governance. conspicuously missing from the new one. This was the second time that Mamora experienced a near appointment in the new administration of President Muhammadu Buhari. He was pencilled down to become the Chairman of the Nigerian Ports Authority in recognition of his energetic efforts during the campaign trail. But he lost out barely 48hrs to the announcement. Again he has been dropped. Sadly, he turned down an appointment by President Muhammadu Buhari. The President appointed Mamora as the Chairman of the Abuja Investment and Infrastructure Centre ( AIIC) but the ex- legislator was said to have rejected the offer.

Mamora was the Deputy Director- General of the Muhammadu Buhari Campaign Organisation during the 2015 presidential election. He was said to have argued that the appointment was not befitting, adding that the people who never participated in the process that brought Buhari to power were occupying the front seats of government.

acclaimed millionaires can’t even afford a smile, as much as they can’t afford a good sleep. This is the lot of Prince Adetunji Ogunwusi, the elder brother of Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi. Some years back, when defaulting on bank loans did not occasion countless sleepless nights, the property mogul got a multimillion naira loan from Skye Bank through his company, Prime Waterview. The economy was still buoyant and nothing in the forecast showed that the business he invested the money in would tank atrociously. Well, it did.

And his over N500million went down the drain. Adetunji has been cliffhanging since. While it may be true that the tiger never loses its spots whatever odds the jungle may throw at it, Adetunji loses his claims to affluence and membership of the millionaire’s club like a tiger losing its spots to the jungle odds.

Despite his chronic indebtedness and precarious financial situation, he fights a desperate battle to save his royal reputation. He would have people believe that he could never lose his affluence or fade into irrelevance simply because he has financial troubles and a little trouble with his bank.

Predictably, his bankers are angry with him. They are in court with him over the debt. But wait a minute, would the ensuing drama end well for the Ife Prince? Not totally, Sir! As you read news of his descent has become gossip across high society circuits, cubicles and boardrooms of his creditors cum bankers.
