Of­fi­cial Re­sults of Kaduna LG Polls Show APC Won 14 Coun­cils, PDP Four

The Kaduna State In­de­pen­dent Elec­toral Com­mis­sion (KADSIEC) yes­ter­day of­fi­cially an­nounced the re­sults of the lo­cal gov­ern­ment elec­tions held last Satur­day, fol­low­ing the con­tro­versy and ten­sion they have gen­er­ated.

The Chair­man of KADSIEC, Binta Saratu Dikko, who an­nounced the re­sults at the com­mis­sion’s head­quar­ters in Kaduna, said the rul­ing All Pro­gres­sives Congress (APC ) won the chair­man­ship elec­tions in 14 coun­cils while the op­po­si­tion Peo­ples Demo­cratic Party (PDP) won in four coun­cils.

Re­sults in two lo­cal gov­ern­ments namely, Chikun and Kaduna South, were in­con­clu­sive.

She also an­nounced that fresh elec­tions in three other coun­cils of Jaba, Kaura and Ka­juru would hold on June 2, 2018.

Ac­cord­ing to her the APC won in Giwa, Igabi, Ikara Kaduna North, Ka­garko, Kubau and Birnin Gwari.

Other coun­cils won by the APC in­cluded Ku­dan, Lere, Makarfi, Sabon Gari, Sanga, Soba and Zaria.

Dikko said the four coun­cils won by the PDP are Jama’a, Kachia, Kauru and Zan­gon Kataf.

Kaduna has 23 lo­cal gov­ern­ments ar­eas.

She added that those who emerged win­ners would be is­sued cer­tifi­cates of re­turn on Sun­day.

She said the of­fi­cial an­nounce­ment was nec­es­sary fol­low­ing con­tro­versy sur­round­ing the pre­vi­ous re­sults.

The PDP had al­leged that some of the re­turn­ing of­fi­cers were ab­ducted and the process was ma­nip­u­lated.
