Opeifa Hand­ball Tour­ney Ends To­day

Ac­tiv­i­ties mak­ing the Sea­son 4 of the an­nual Opeifa La­gos State Sec­ondary Schools Hand­ball Cham­pi­onship hold­ing at the Rowe Park Sports Cen­tre Yaba will be rounded-off to­day when all the eight fi­nals in both the boys and girls cat­e­gories will be on the card.

This af­ter­noon, La­gos City Col­lege Yaba and Zum­ratu Is­lamic Se­nior High School will look horns in the se­nior boys fi­nal while Wesley Girls Se­nior Sec­ondary School will take on CMS Se­nior Gram­mar School in the se­nior fi­nal. To­day’s grand fi­nale will be­gin at 9am with the ju­nior fi­nals at the open court.

To get to to­day’s fi­nal, La­gos City Col­lege de­feated Ikosi Se­nior High School 13 – 6 while Zum­ratu Is­lamic outscored Jagu­molu Se­nior Girls Gram­mer School 3 -1.

In the ju­nior cat­e­gory, United Chris­tian Ju­nior Sec­ondary School will face Eletu Ejigbo Ju­nior High School in the Girls fi­nal while Her­bert Ma­caulay Ju­nior High School will tackle Ji­bowu Ju­nior High School. In the Boys fi­nal, United Chris­tian Ju­nior School beat Her­bert Ma­caulay 3 – 1 while Eletu Ejigbo out classed ST. Luke’s Ju­nior Gram­mar School 6 – 4 in the semi-fi­nal even as Jagu­molu High School beat Mobo­laji Bank An­thony Ju­nior High School 14 – 13.

In­ter­est­ingly, new cham­pi­ons are to emerge this year as the defending cham­pi­ons in both the se­nior boys and girls cat­e­gories have since crashed out of the race to pave way for new cham­pi­ons

Sec­re­tary Gen­eral of the La­gos Sate Hand­ball As­so­ci­a­tion, Fa­ti­moh Ojikutu and the for­mer chair­per­son of the La­gos Sate Hand­ball As­so­ci­a­tion Ade­ola Opeifa, both ap­plauded the de­vel­op­ment which they at­trib­uted to the equal op­por­tu­nity given to all the schools to use the Rowe Park Sports Cen­tre fa­cil­i­ties for their train­ing.
