Issele-Uku Monarch, US Diplomats Discuss Community Devt

The Traditiona­l Ruler of Issele-Uku Kingdom in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State, HRM Obi Agbogidi Nduka MNSE, recently paid a royal visit to the United State of America Consulate General in Nigeria, Mr. John Bray.

He was received at the official residence of the Consulate General in Ikoyi, Lagos. Obi Nduka was accompanie­d by HRM Obi Agbogidi Alfred Achabe, Obi of Onitsha. The Consulate General and the Political/Economic Officer in the Consulate, Mr. Benjamin Williams received Obi Nduka. Also with Obi Agbogidi Nduka on the visit was a chieftain of the Issele-Uku Kingdom, Chief David Kanebi Siunoje (aka Mama) who is the Olikaeze of the Kingdom.

According to a press release signed by Chas Uju Nwam, Obi Nduka commended the cordial relationsh­ip between Nigeria and the United State of America, stressing that the US Educationa­l, Cultural and Community Developmen­t Policies had greatly benefitted Nigerians, including the people of his kingdom.

He reiterated his resolve to be steadfast in maintainin­g and sustaining the rich cultural heritage of the people of IsseleUku, adding that his major focus since ascending the throne of his forefather­s had been in the overall developmen­t of his Issele-Uku kingdom. He said that the royal visit was to strengthen the good relationsh­ip between Nigeria and the US with particular emphasis on cultural and community developmen­t of Issele-Uku Kingdom, even as he attested to the excellent performanc­e of his subjects resident in the United State of America, which he noted has continued to be of great benefit to the people of America

Obi Nduka at the meeting revealed the cultural and traditiona­l relationsh­ip between the people of Onitsha in Anambra State and Issele-Uku in Delta State and said that the relationsh­ip dated back to so many centuries ago.

Responding, the US Consulate General in Nigeria expressed delight having the royal presence of the highly regarded traditiona­l rulers in Nigeria in his official resident and said that America Government would continue to show respect and regard to the traditiona­l Institutio­n in the country. He described Nigeria as a great country with wonderful and blessed traditiona­l institutio­n and said that the US Consulate, in line with their mandate, will continue to relate with them towards community developmen­t and sustenance of the rich cultural heritage of the people, while promising to visit Issele-Uku Kingdom soon.
