Govt Commiserates with Plateau NUJ
Plateau State government has commiserated with the state chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ over the demise of one of its members, Mallam Auwal Ahmed, publisher of Global News, describing it as a great shock to the media community in the state. State Commissioner of Information and Communication, Mr. Yakubu Dati stated this when he visited the deceased’s family residence in Jos, where he described the late publisher as a consummate media practitioner whose medium promoted peaceful coexistence in the state and beyond. He further conveyed the sympathy of Governor Simon Lalong to the immediate family Ahmed and entire journalists in the state, particularly the Independent Publishers. The Commissioner was accompanied by senior staff of the Ministry, including Directors of Administration, Information and Finance; Ishaya Turba, Theodorah Damulak and Semshak respectively, as well as Racheal Dayigil amongst others. Ahmed, who died on Friday morning, has been buried according to Islamic rites.
