Govt Com­mis­er­ates with Plateau NUJ


Plateau State gov­ern­ment has com­mis­er­ated with the state chap­ter of the Nige­ria Union of Jour­nal­ists (NUJ over the demise of one of its mem­bers, Mal­lam Auwal Ahmed, publisher of Global News, de­scrib­ing it as a great shock to the me­dia com­mu­nity in the state. State Com­mis­sioner of In­for­ma­tion and Com­mu­ni­ca­tion, Mr. Yakubu Dati stated this when he vis­ited the de­ceased’s fam­ily res­i­dence in Jos, where he de­scribed the late publisher as a con­sum­mate me­dia prac­ti­tioner whose medium pro­moted peace­ful co­ex­is­tence in the state and be­yond. He fur­ther con­veyed the sym­pa­thy of Gov­er­nor Simon La­long to the im­me­di­ate fam­ily Ahmed and en­tire jour­nal­ists in the state, par­tic­u­larly the In­de­pen­dent Pub­lish­ers. The Com­mis­sioner was ac­com­pa­nied by se­nior staff of the Min­istry, in­clud­ing Direc­tors of Ad­min­is­tra­tion, In­for­ma­tion and Fi­nance; Ishaya Turba, Theodorah Da­mu­lak and Semshak re­spec­tively, as well as Racheal Dayigil amongst oth­ers. Ahmed, who died on Fri­day morn­ing, has been buried ac­cord­ing to Is­lamic rites.
