Joe Boy Won’t Last Three Rounds, Boasts Ghana­ian Chal­lenger


Ghana­ian boxer, Nathaniel Nukpe, who is billed to fight reign­ing African Box­ing Union (ABU) light­weight cham­pion, Oto “Joe Boy” Joseph, for the ti­tle at GOtv Box­ing Night 15, on July 29, has de­clared that his Nige­rian op­po­nent will not last three of the 12-round con­test.

The bout is the big­gest of the seven lined up for the event hold­ing at the In­door Sports Hall of the Obafemi Awolowo Sta­dium in Ibadan.

Nukpe, who bragged that home sup­port will not be to the ben­e­fit of the Nige­rian op­po­nent, said: “I am not com­ing to Nige­ria for a jam­boree. I mean busi­ness. I will crush Joe Boy. I am com­ing to take the belt.”

Oth­ers on the card in­cludes a na­tional light wel­ter­weight challenge be­tween ABU wel­ter­weight cham­pion, Olaide Fi­jabi and old foe, Kazeem Ariyo; and na­tional cruis­er­weight clash be­tween Michael God­win and Idowu Oku­sote.

Also sched­uled is the in­ter­na­tional light mid­dleweight con­test be­tween the ex­plo­sive Akeem Sadiku of Nige­ria and Franc Houan­voegbe of Benin Repub­lic.

The event, spon­sored by GOtv and Bet King, will be beamed live on Su­perS­port in 47 African coun­tries. The best boxer at the event will go home with a cash prize of N1 million along­side the Mo­jisola Ogun­sanya Memo­rial Tro­phy.
