Ex- Kwara PDP Chairman’s Kinsmen Pledge Allegiance to Saraki

- Hammed Shittu in Ilorin

The Saraki political leadership yesterday got a major support as hundreds of the kinsmen of the former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State, Hon. Iyiola Oyedepo pledged their allegiance to the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki.

Oyedepo and some state executive council of the party recently dumped the party and joined the All Progressives Congress in the State.

But, the members of the PDP from Isin Local Government Area (LGA) of the state, where the former party chairman hails from were led into the Saraki political dynasty by Chief Michael Oyinloye and Hon. Ayo Idowu; former Isin LGA chairman and member of the state House of Assembly respectively yesterday.

Speaking at the ceremony in Ilorin, Idowu said the Isin PDP members decided to stay back in the party with Saraki as their leader because of the latter’s outstanding performance as former governor of Kwara State and as the Senate President.

“I want to assure you that 95 per cent of PDP members in Is in are with the Senate President. We shall deliver 100 per cent vote to PDP and our leader in 2019.”

In his remarks, Prince Michael Oyinloye debunked insinuations that PDP was dead in Isin with the defection of Hon. Oyedepo to the comatose All Progressives Congress (APC).

“We are the ones behind Oyedepo and we have refused to follow him to APC because we believe in Saraki’s leadership, “he said.
