Rocking Rukky Sanda

With an upscale lifestyle and a personality so unpredictable, elegant actress Rukky Sanda sure leaves much to be desired as she marks her 34th birthday in style, writes Ferdinand Ekechukwu

Rukky Sanda’s rise to fame could best be described as meteoric and she does not need to be told about this. The sassy Nollywood celebrity, as much as she rocks her world and thinks less of what people think about her, has long defined her path which only a fastidious Nollywood observer can discern. As usual, rocking Rukky celebrated her 34th birthday in style on August 23. In a series of post on Instagram on her special day, Rukky shared beautiful pictures of herself while thanking God for another year of life.

“Happy birthday to me. May my God’s will and only His will the exact way He intended for me be done in my life. (Amen) Cheers to me, living my most amazing life,” she wrote on her Instagram page.

The photos elicited mixed comments such that a critic remarked that her blonde look and the striking pose reminded one of those pretty villains in a blockbuster movie where they usually look intimidating and irresistible.

Rukky, prior to her foray into the world of make-believe, had a stint in clothing and fashion accessories business. Her ravishing sense of fashion draws from her past. Aside from being in the news for provocative stories, Rukky has got it all going well for her; plus her list of loyal friends and industry colleagues. Born Rukayat Akinsanya, the actress once proclaimed in an interview: “I am not interested in any negativity. I am only concentrating on my career.”

Bursting onto the scene in 2004, with the movie Angel and the Beast, while still a student of Lagos State University, it didn’t take long for Rukky to make a name for herself in the movie industry as she quickly appended to her status of producer and director by means of the lingo ‘hustle’ with her first movie production, Lethal Woman.

She has written and produced a couple of other movies which she mostly featured in. In 2008, she produced Lethal Woman. In 2009, she produced Obscure Motives. In 2012, she produced Lovelorn and Miami Heat and in 2013, she produced Keeping My Man which received fair acclaim.

Business minded and philanthropist, Rukky ranks amongst the present generation of Nollywood actors cum producers who have made a difference with their craft and cost in the industry. The CEO of Rukky Sanda Studios and Rukky Sanda Productions with up to date leasing equipment for filmmakers as well as editing studio for post-production often has a cause to celebrate.

With so much about this Ikorodu-born star, despite controversies and rumours about several aspects of her life including her career, her background, choice and preferences, she has continued to forge ahead. Once linked to lesbianism and rumoured to have been in a relationship with a female colleague, the actress and another popular thespian Tonto Dike in 2012 jointly donated N1million to a cancer patient for treatment.

Unabashedly single and appears uninterested in marriage, Rukky is a darling to a host of teeming Nollywood aficionados. She once revealed in an interview how she feeds over a 100 people occasionally. According to her, when they cook the food, they take it to the homeless people every week. She further stated that she does the financing while her mom does the work. So good for the Banking and Finance graduate.

Rukky is daring, scary with multiple piercing on her left and right ear, on her tongue and on her belly and perhaps some other hidden parts of her body. Her very expensive look, even though there are several men lusting after her beautiful photos on Instagram, many are scared to approach her for a serious relationship due to the perceived ‘capital intensive’ nature of such a romance.

The filmmaker continues to maintain her upscale lifestyle despite being scarce on the television screens. The 10th in a polygamous family, the best admonition Rukky received from her mum was simply to be true to herself, and always remember where she comes from. . . “Don’t let anybody make you feel you don’t deserve what you have because you have been comfortable all your life.”
