- Deji Elumoye

Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, has resumed consultations with critical political stakeholders a day after he publicly declared his intention to run for President during the 2019 general elections.

Saraki and members of his campaign team are now in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital meeting with the State Governor, David Umahi.

The campaign team will thereafter proceed to Umuahia, the Abia State capital where Saraki will also dialogue with Governor Okezie Ikpeazu over his presidential ambition.

Saraki’s last port of call today will be Enugu State where he would also hold consultative meeting with the state Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi at the Government House.

Sources told THISDAY that Saraki had wanted to pick PDP presidential interest form at the party secretariat in Abuja today but was advised to reach out to the South East governors and carry them along about his ambition before picking the form.

He is expected to pick the form at the Wadata House national secretariat of the PDP in Abuja on Monday.

Saraki had before now met with three former Presidents over his 2019 presidential ambition.

Those Saraki consulted in the last one month include former Presidents Ibrahim Babangida, Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan who he met in their respective homes in Minna, Abeokuta and Abuja.

Meanwhile, Saraki has constituted a Campaign team with Alhaji Mohammed Wakil as the Director-General.

Wakil, a former Leader of the House of Representatives and ex-Minister of State for Power, will be assisted by other technocrats and party chieftains to execute the Saraki for President campaign
